My Cholesterol Timeline (What Actually Changed + When)

One of the most frustrating parts of trying to lower cholesterol is this:

you don’t know if what you’re doing is working

You make changes…
wait a few weeks…
maybe a few months…

and hope your numbers improve.

That’s how I approached it at first.

Where I Started

My LDL wasn’t terrible — but it wasn’t where I wanted it either.

At one point, it was around:

~158

That’s when I started trying to “eat healthier” and be more consistent.

What Didn’t Work (At First)

I made the usual changes:

  • cleaner eating
  • more exercise
  • some weight loss
  • less obvious junk

And my results?

inconsistent

Sometimes my LDL would drop a bit
other times… barely move

That’s what made this confusing.

When Things Started Changing

The shift happened when I stopped focusing on “eating better”

and started focusing on:

consistently high fiber

Once that was in place daily, things got more predictable.

What Actually Happened

Here’s the part that mattered:

  • when I averaged high fiber daily → LDL dropped
  • when that slipped → progress slowed or reversed

Over time, my LDL moved from:

~158 → ~80

Not overnight.

But not randomly either.

The Timeline (Simplified)

Instead of exact dates, here’s what actually mattered:

Weeks 1–2

  • digestion changes
  • fullness increases
  • no major LDL change yet

Weeks 3–6

  • consistency starts compounding
  • this is where numbers begin to shift

Beyond that

  • results reflect how consistent you’ve been

What Made the Difference

It wasn’t perfection.

I still had:

  • meals that weren’t ideal
  • days that weren’t perfect

But I had one thing locked in:

a reliable way to hit high fiber most days

That’s what made the results stick.

What This Means for You

If your LDL hasn’t changed much yet, it doesn’t necessarily mean:

  • it’s not working
  • or you’re doing something wrong

It usually means:

one of the levers isn’t consistently in place yet

The Takeaway

This isn’t random.

It’s responsive.

When the inputs are there consistently, the numbers follow.
